Senior Adults
RHUMC offers several ministries to our senior adults in the community. Below you find a few examples:
Richmond Hill Saints
This is a lively group, age 50+, who meet the first Tuesday night of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the Gill Fellowship Hall for a covered dish dinner followed by a program and activity. A minimal membership fee of $1 per month provides for the education material. The Saints also take occasional trips within the community as well. For more information, call Frankie Yawn at 756-3741 or Eloise Green at 884-3567.
Bunny Club Craft Group
If you enjoy crafts, woodworking or just have willing hands, the Bunny club would love to have you join them. They prepare many articles for sale at several events during the year to aid in the ministries of the church. Call Thelma Speir at 756-2299 for more information and meeting times.
Adult Bible Studies and Sunday School
Various Bible studies are available from time to time for people of all ages. These include the Disciple Bible study series, a women’s Tuesday morning Bible study, as well as many others. Please call the church office for what is available at this time.
We have six adult Sunday School classes at this time, with many that include older adults. We encourage you to come and check our our many different classes to find one that suits your needs.
United Methodist Women - Circle of Hope
The UMW is an organization of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. The Circle of Hope i made of mainly retired women. They meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m. at Magnolia Manor. For more infomration, contact Nancy McAuley at 756-5126 or Sara Thomasson at 756-2460.
Opportunities to Serve
Many of our older members have found great opportunties to serve our Lord through the many missions of the church. Our community soup kitchen, which meets in the RHUMC fellowship hall, is always in need of those willing to prepare meals, package them, or drive them to people’s homes. The Way Station is another community outreach that provides a food pantry for those in need. It is located at the rear of our church property. Please call Sara Thomasson for more information (756-2460). We also have many mission trips during the year that would be great opportunities for service as well. We do missions in the community, within our nation, and internationally.
